best breeds

I have two Rhode Island Reds and I'm thinking of getting another chicken. What would be the best breed for me? I live in Portland Maine, so its cold here. I need a breed that will get along with my Rhode Island Reds, too.

If you have RIRs I definitely recommend you stick with them.
They can be very hard on newcomers, especially non RIRs.

Adding one bird can sometimes be difficult - especially if the current ones are RIRs.

i like dominiques. Mine are only like 4 days old so i can only say what i've read. their supposed to be really calm and docile. And supposed to be hardy and very cold tolerent. And i really just like the way they look.

What are you looking for in a chicken? Meat or eggs, or even both. Do some research before you make up your mind. I would stick with RIRs.

I just want them as pets. But I wouldn't mind if their eggs taste good

I have RIR's that are fine with my Silver Laced Wyandotes But You should add two chickens instead of one.
