My best old broodie was a bantam hen named Trixie she had the most wonderful nature and was such a great mummy. She even took in a sick abandoned chick and took care of her till she was better. She was the first hen I owned aswell and is the reason I love chickens so much now. RIP Trixie

This is my latest broodie named Pig she was bred by me and its her first clutch. Shes actually a daughter of Trixie!
Now this was NOT planned lol She wasnt laying much but did lay a few "decoy" eggs around the pen so I was fooled into thinking that was all she was laying. However when she went missing I found her stashed in tall grass in the corner of the pen with 14 eggs under her. They are due any day now and we are expecting 8 little chickies. I think her dedication in laying "decoys" for me showed her desire to beome a mummy. Im now very glad shes getting the chance
