Dogs generally have to be carrying a hefty load of worms for you to actually see them in their poops.Thanks! Good info. I’ll have them do a fecal just in case. He is on heartworm meds as well as the flea and tick kind but I’ll have them check. I haven’t seen any worms in his poop but just in case.
I had one pup who tested clear on her fecal, and than a week later vomited up a slimy pile of roundworms one morning. Vet said sometimes they get walled off in the stomach.
Tape worms will not show up on a fecal. At least that's what I was told. Generally you see those crawling around under the tail and it requires a different wormer.
I personally haven't run a fecal on most of my dogs past the puppy stage.
