Hi, I'm new to byc, and this is my first post. Hope my pics come through.... Here's 3 of my new babies a few days after I got them. And here they are now at 4 weeks old! I'm loving being a new chicky mommy!

they look like barred rocks, sometimes called 'barred Plymouth rocks'

I bought them from our local feed store and they were pretty adamant that the chicks are barred leghorns and will lay white eggs! I guess we shall see.

I've never heard of barred leghorns, maybe they bred them?

oh by the way if where you are you have butcher birds or magpies they may kill your chicks if they are outside less likely for magpies to tho,
we had a butcher bird kill a small dove in our chicken pen. and then they killed a king fisher.

Thanks for the tip. We have a coop and run for them but I let them run around the yard while I'm doing yardwork or playing with my kids. I'll keep an eye out for predators though! Thanks!
