I just had to show off my new cochin bantam chicks!!! They are my first cochin chicks ever and I'm totally in love!

:love

I'm new to chicken keeping and the forum. I have two light sussex and two black australorp hybrids. Daisy, Peggy, Penny, and Ozzie. We got them as day old chicks and are counting the days until we get eggs. ;-)

its best to start with pure-breds like you did! we didn't, we started with the standard hybrid cross things, 8 of them, they were nice hens while they were alive, we lost 3, they are a fragile type.
now we have 10 chickens, 1 RIR 2 barnaveldas 1 sussex large light (the same as you have) 1 white commercial 3 black and commercials 2 brown commercials (all named).

Hi, I'm new to byc, and this is my first post. Hope my pics come through....

Here's 3 of my new babies a few days after I got them.

And here they are now at 4 weeks old! I'm loving being a new chicky mommy!

nice hens!

Thank you! I'm worried one is a cockerel, hoping all pullets though!

They are Rhode Island reds, the black and white are supposed to be barred leghorns but I can't seem to find hardly any info on that breed.

they look like barred rocks, sometimes called 'barred Plymouth rocks'
