Best Chicken defense gun

Cona bear trap. I've seen a video online and it snapped the foxes neck...dead..dead..dead. a neighbor on a neighboring country Rd lost 30 chickens near me. Hubby says he is bringing his gun on the way to work and killing it if he sees it.

I admire someone that can think when excited. Many people can't.

It is hard to get a clear shot at a fox. They see and hear so well and stay alive by being alert. Dad got one with a .22 by ambushing one. He understood it's pattern (showing up at dawn and grabbing one about a half hour after they came out of the hen house in the morning). A friend got one while squirrel hunting. He was sitting quietly under a tree and a fox stumbled on him. Probably a 12 gauge, that was his squirrel gun. I'd guess #4 shot. These were in the country where you had clean lines of fire. I've passed up a lot of shots at different critters because there were horses or cattle in pastures I couldn't see into because of trees in a fence row, let alone people's houses.

I've never tried to trap a fox. I remember someone on here several years back that did regularly. He had a proper fox-sized live trap and built around it with those rectangular hay bales so the only way the fox could approach was through the front. He used his rooster as bait, keeping it behind the trap. He figured that was one way the rooster could help protect his flock.

You might try googling "how to trap a fox" and see what you find. Some people can trap anything, you just need to know how. Details can be important.
