Best Chicken Mix Projects (Anyone who has done a project can post here)

I've played around with a few crosses in the past. We enjoyed the f-1 / F-2 Easter Eggers from pure Ameraucana stock immensely for the color and personality, but probably my favorite was when I had Mr.Kellogs (Welsummer Rooster). I loved the crosses I did with him.

Welsummer over Delaware. Produced beautiful, cold hardy, brown egg layers with great personalities and easy temperments. The chicks grew fast and were very hardy. This is a great combination.

Welsummer over Blue Ameraucana in the foreground and Welsummer over Wheaten Ameraucana in the back ground.

I have a 6 week cockerel from a Splash Orp rooster and BR hen. He is Blue Barred(just starting to get feathered in)

The gold faced one was a result of the Orp rooster and Buff Orp(it got taken by a hawk, as did broody mom)

This pic is at 4.5 weeks. He has pink skin like an Orp

Has anyone done a BRxBO or BOxBR? Or any crosses with Buff Orps?

Yep, wish I had some pictures. Hatchery stock BOxBR and the babies were sex-linked, all the females were black and gold, all the males were lightly barred with gold leakage. Very nice temperament on the rooster, but the hens are extremely skiddish (raised by their broody momma so not well socialized, but even now that they're laying they won't come over even for food). Both sexes are larger than both their parents, the girls lay almost daily and very pale eggs (strangely), the roos are very polite but submissive to an OEGB cross roo.

Barred rock roo/columbian rock hen

I bred him to my white and gold EE and hatched out one just to see how they turn out the little one is 3 days old cant wait to see the feathering

mmmm my last batches are still growing out. From Nov hatch are two black and white, definately roos. Then two black and gold, which are beginning to get some comb size on them so think they maybe slower growing roos.

Dec hatch, one black and white definately a boy and bigger than the others. Another gold and black, might be a boy. One that's been black except a little orange around the face is developing partridge pattern on the back. Maybe a girl. Will try and take some pics tomorrow

Would love to see your pics, I'll try to get some of the crosses I know (they're our friends' birds). These were sex-linked because the mother was always a BR hen, but if you have BR roos with BO hens you will obviously not get sex links.
