Best Chicken Names..List yours!

We have Mr Bo-Jangles, his sons are Little Red and Little Susie (was thought to be a hen so named after mother, Susie Q).I have lots of hens that I call momma once they go broody. I have one roo named Gobbles, after the turkey from south park. He was pecked horribly as a chick on the head and we thought he would have brain damage and be different but he pulled through with only a small scar to show for it.

My daughter has Rose and Fancy Pants.

My son has Buddy and Polo.

Now the ducks:puff Daddy or Einstein depending on who is calling him. Sam, Momma, 2 Blackies, 2 Smokey's

Geese: Big Daddy, Meanness, Bow Legs, Lola, Frankie

Turkey's: Tom and Tommie

We have over 200 birds but that is some of the pets.

These names are too cute!

We got a group of 12 chicks, 6 bantams, 6 standards. 2 of the standards were Buff Orpingtons. The only way of telling them apart was their eye color. My mother and I were stalling on picking names waiting for the perfect fit, haha. One of the Buff's would trip over the bantams, the water, the food, and even my hand if it was in the cage! So of course I named her Grace.

We couldn't think of a name for the second Orpington and would refer to her as "Not Grace" eventually the name stuck!

OK...here goes
Red Stars- Pretzel, Ginger, Blaze & Doe (my then 5 year old thought her white butt looked like a whitetailed deer!)

Buff Orpingtons - Cinnamon, Brown Sugar, Honey Pot & Peanut butter

Black Australorps - Morticia & Lily

Columbian Wyandottes - Elsa & Ana

Bantam White Leghorn - Arctic

Easter Eggers - Robin, Alice (in Wonderland, always curious!) And then i have one i call Chestnut but i am thinking changing to a human name to stick with the the theme...

Isa Brown - Angel

Dominique - Domino

Barred Rocks - Checkers and two unnamed! Since the Dominique and BR are similar in plummage, i was thinking of sticking with the classic game theme. Any ideas?

And finally my EE Cockrell - Rembrandt. He has so many interesting colors including blue and green iridescent that he looked like a Rembrandt painting!

Here he is at 10 weeks. Just starting with the iridescent tail feathers...
700

Any suggestions would be very welcome!

I don't know many games other than cards, so Ace immediately comes to mind (the ace of spades). I actually like the artist theme. Perhaps you could name one of the BRs Escher? Or maybe another artist who's best known for working with black and white? Salvador Dali is one of my personal favorites even though he didn't do much B&W in his later years. His earlier works include some beautiful sketches. I would have chosen Escher & either Salvador or Dali. I guess it all depends on if they're girls or boys. Some of the names could work for both. Maybe even a photographer you may like? Ansel Adams is an obvious choice for that category. Or Richard Avedon, DIane Arbus, etc.

That's my two cents. Hope some of these help! I'm sure you'll find the perfect names for them!

! LOVE IT! I am going to run it buy my family and see what their thoughts are. I think because of the beautiful colors that artists is an awesome theme for EE's!!!! Rembrandt is now getting Irriedescent blue and green feathers on his neck, back and tail! He also is getting some feathers that are almost like a B.O but more yellow/orange! He really looks just like a Rembrandt painting!!!!!! I am so excited. I don't care if EE's are an "accepted breed" He is a beautiful boy and I love him so much. I finally got him to fall asleep in my arms and he is now eating out of my hand with the rest of the girls right next to the feeder! Who would have thought! So we also settled on the BR's and went with the card theme and chess. Queen or Queenie for chess and either Joker or Diamond for cards. So I also love Dali and I think that might be an option. I am from Detroit so I was thinking of the painter who painted the famous city of industry panels in the Detroit Institute of Arts, Diego Rivera. I am going to give it some thought. They are so AWESOME though! I saw this idea on pinterest where they put sand in old tires for the chickens to give themselves their dirt baths. So we put three tires in the new portion of the coop. They ended up using them, pretty much, as litter boxes! LOL Anyway, I will go out and sift the sand with a hand sifter we purchased online and I LOVE using sand in the coop. So much that we switched the other portion over to sand and only put the pine flake in the nesting boxes. It reduces odor, no mold growth, so easy to keep clean! I will go out, sift out a tire and sit for hours with them! Feeding them, holding them, or just watching them. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have 22 chickens and be in love with everyone of them, I would have told you you were crazy! SOOOO addicting and Very worth the efforts! What are your chickens names?

I'm glad the artist ideas were helpful. The Diego Rivera idea is a great one. I Started with 4 BOs that I named after The Golden Girls (silly & unoriginal, but I thought it was funny)

Blanche, Rose, Dorothy & Sophia.

Dorothy turned out to be a roo, so I had to come up with a boy name. Someone here in another thread suggested Stan or Stanley because that was the name of the character's ex-husband, so It stuck. At first I hated the idea of having a rooster named Stanley, but now I'm cool with it. I actually call him every other nickname BUT Stanley (because he is my favorite), most often it's Mr. Stanley Roosterface because he has such a sweet little face and I love him. I'm pretty sure that nickname is hashtagged on instagram. LOL

Since we eventually wanted a flock of 8 hens + a roo, we went ahead and got 5 more birds last week. I'm all about themes and so with these I chose names from different Bond Girls. So we now have:

1 more BO, The "replacement Dorothy"

1 Chocolate Orpington, Honey (Honey Rider from Dr. No) who I suspect may also be a roo. If he is, he'll just be Godzilla because he is a GIANT. Or maybe Jaws. We can just add a little Bond Villian to the mix.
1 Blue Marans, Domino (Named after the character from Thunderball who was played by the French actress Claudine Auger)
1EE, Holly (Holly Goodhead from Moonraker) again, a suspected roo, in which case he will be James. LOL
1 Sliver Laced Wyandotte, Vesper (from Casino Royale)

But now I really want one more just so I can name her after the Bond Girl from On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The only girl Bond ever married.

That would require me to build another coop, though. That's not gonna happen for a while since I just finished building our first. LOL

My Leghorn was named "Blanca" by our 9 yr. old granddaughter, because of the white feathers, but when she came to live with Poppy and Grammy, (the Barred Rocks at my son's house were picking on the Leghorn which encouraged the other gals to join in), she ended up being called "Blondie" by my husband. She follows him everywhere and has become his pet. The other chicken, an Amerucana that had been named "Jane" by our four year old grandson, came along. She's docile and wasn't a part of the crowd picking on Blondie, so she came as a companion. The other chickens at son's house are Margot, a Sex Link; Charlotte, another Amerucana; a Silver Lace named Agnes; and Goldie, a Buff Orphington, Freckles and Samantha, both Barred Rocks. They all have funny personalities and I swear they know their names!
