Best Chicken to buy for a pet chicken to keep in the backyard?

I live in southeast TN too, but i have only had my chickens a couple of months, maybee three so i wont be much help on the cool temps yet. I have a Delaware hen that tolerates the heat well and is friendly, and a red ????? hen that likes to be held most of the time.

I haven't had chickens that long, but our EEs and little WCB Polish chickens are so nice and friendly. The Polish ones are amazing. They follow me around like puppies - talking the whole time. It sounds like you need a chicken/dog companion..

My birds haven't lived through a Colorado winter yet, but I can tell you that last night it was 50 degrees and then up to 100 this afternoon. They are all happy! Have fun!!
