We're going to start building this weekend, and I'm trying to get some inspiration for my coop! I have a hunter/jumper barn, so I want it to be cute as well as functional. I plan to landscape around it (next year if not this year--one thing at a time right?!) but I've also seen people add painted signs, metal decorations, etc.

What's the best looking decor you have or have seen? Please post pics if you have them!

Not on my coop but I thought it would look nice on my garage, got it at tractor supply a while ago.

I got 3 or 4 signs as a starter for mine coop. Here are a couple of them. I am also looking at an arch way thing I have in another part of my yard I don't use and I plan on putting it in their pen and growing something that will climb on it and flower. I am going to First Monday in Canton in a couple of weeks to see what I can find there.

Cool! Are those metal signs? I love that! I hadn't thought of doing an archway with climbing flowers; I bet that'll be great! Climbing plants would be good for creating shade, as I don't really have any shady spots here. Do you have a plan for keeping the chickens from eating the plants?

Nope! Lol I don't really know yet. I figure I will research it and see what I come up with. Back home in Deer Park Tx I grew Bougainville I may try that but nit sure how it would fair up here in east Texas. Will have to do some research to see.

My grandson and my granddaughter (both 8, not brother and sister but cousins) each decided to help us draw up plans for our coop. Then they colored them. Katie's was "princess pink" with turrrets! Evan's was really kinda cute - he wants us to paint ours in different sizes of red, blue, green, and yellow blocks so it looks like it's made out of Legos! I was just speculating today about adding three wooden circles to the top of the outer nesting box so it would look like a Lego waiting to be placed! The more I think about it.......Somebody help me......
