Best day of my life!!

When you have been opening the nesting box doors day after day after day (5x a day ) waiting for your first EE egg and then BAM!!

I'm so happy I could cry! . We had a thunderstorm last night, maybe it scared the egg outta her

Side note - slightly *less* best day ever, because last night I drove 4 hours to pick up some new ladies from someone who's been breading for 20+ years... It was dark when I got home (and I couldn't look at them when I picked them up because she was worried about biosecurity)... And this morning in the daylight I could see IMMEDIATELY that one of them has really bad scaly leg mites . She even said "I looked them all over super carefully for any parasites or anything".... I need to say something, right? Like it would be one thing if it was just a random person, but she's supposed to be reputable, and a drove a long way and paid a lot.....

Yes! You should definitely say something... and that sounds suspicious because she did not let you look at them.

Congrats on the eggs! That’s awesome! And I would definitely say something. Obvious scaly leg/ mites, the fact that you picked them up at night, she didn’t want you looking at them, and she said she looked over them and they were fine is suspicious

I *think* I trust her... It wasn't like a "DON'T LOOK AT THEM" situation... She just did most of the handling, and I usually had a kiddo in my arms... And I definitely need to go back and edit my post because I did not mean to say "last night"! It was daytime... But by the time I dropped off half of the birds to my friend, got mine home and in the isolation coop, ran to pick up the rest of my kids, got back home and made dinner.... It was dark. So she wasn't intentionally trying to swindle me into coming at night
Maybe I'm too trusting... But if she's been doing this for 20 years and people recommend her, she can't be doing it on purpose, can she?! But also how did she miss it?! . Gonna go grab some pictures now that I've had my coffee.
