best defense against bobcats?

I use electric wire around my coops and pens and I have heard critters test it. Since the past few months I have seen some predators during the day I'm leaving mine on 24/7 unless I'm out working around the coops and pens. I forgot to turn it off the other day and accidentally touched it and it made my heart skip a beat. I have at least 6' of ground rod in the ground. You can have multiple ground rods in.
This is an older picture and we have added a couple of more coops since it was taken but the wire is the same. My hubby and a friend built these 2 coops. They left one side open and an owl got in and killed several birds so I put the tarps over and completely covered all of the pens with heavy duty netting.

Any suggestions on how to make a proper foot trap? I've been trying a live catch trap, without success. In fact I have not seen any sign of the cat since that first encounter.

Since you originally scared it off before it found a meal, and it hasn’t been back since... your odds of trapping it are pretty low.

about 50% of catching bobcats is just setting where a cat is coming in or passing through.

Cage traps that you buy at a farm store are all but worthless for bobcats... folks in a couple western states in the US are required to use cage style traps, but they use specially designed traps... they are typically taller, better built, and are more expensive...

If still interested in trapping bobcats, there are better sites on the web to learn about it than this one... Google will be your friend for that.
