My pekin is a little picky and will only mate my other pekins but I think that the SA could handle it if he tried it. I've read other people have the same experience with their pekin drakes favoriting their pekin female and over mating her rather than spreading the love around. Maybe don't give him a choice? If you don't have pekin ladies he can't play color favorites as much.
Okau, thanks for the idea. My ideal flock was have 2 or 3 males and enough gals for them all to exist together. If I do that maybe I'll get a male and some female Peking and have the other males be something else
You might enjoy reading about how you can create sex linked ducks. It's nice to be able to sell off some guaranteed girls to pay for the feed to grow out your males for butcher. There's a great article here.
Thanks. That actually was helpful and a good idea. I might consider that. I'd love to just have muscovies but I'm not sure that's possible where I am. But the sexlink would be helpful for extra hens I get
