Best egg layers to put with silkies?

I am interested in adding two productive egg layers to my 5 silkies and 1 red sex link. My chicks are only one week old so I would like to introduce them soon if possible. I am wondering which productive egg laying breed is safest to put with my silkies...they are precious and I want them to be as safe as possible with a known docile, productive egg laying breed. I live in Ohio, so have hot summers and cold winters.

I'd try something like Orpingtons.

You might also check with some of the Polish folks. I know Polish are classified as an ornamental, but folks that have them sometimes say they lay pretty darn well.

Astralops are excellent eggs layers and mine are pretty docile. They lay a huge brown egg.
