Best feeder and waterer for chicks

Hi!

I'm looking for suggestions on the best feeder and waterer for chicks. Wanting feed/water to stay clean and spill free.

Thanks!
I made this for a chick waterer from a sports bottle I got from a thrift store and a pack of horizontal nipples. It with for broody hens too...

I ferment chick feed and feed it in troughs.

I've read abou the horizontal nipples and they seem ideal for clean water. Do you put 1-2 day old chicks on them right away or wait about a week?

Horizontal may be difficult for chicks to trigger, so you should wait til around 3 weeks to be safe on those. Vertical can be used by younger chicks. DobieLover's photos are of vertical nipples.

And of course I wrote horizontal when I MEANT to write vertical. What a nit wit.
But I have both styles.

If you put the normal chick feeder and waterer up on a platform, it helps to keep everything cleaner. I use a cardboard box for the first week, before they go to the coop brooder.

I keep everything on a platform or hung in the coop brooder also. I introduce a horizontal nipple waterer at 2 - 3 weeks. I leave both waterers in for a week, then remove the chick waterer.
Here's a link for my no waste chick feeder thread. It has a couple different ideas in it as well.
