I forgot how messy quail chicks are. What does everyone here like best for a crumble feeder? I'm using a chick feeder and while the quail are no longer trying to get stuck inside of it (fun!)they are still taking great joy from scratching crumble all over the place.
I usually sprinkle feed on top of a paper towel on top of the shavings for the first couple days. I change the paper towel once or twice a day.
Then I'll add the red tractor supply feeder. Sometimes I'll add duct tape covering the top half of each hole so they don't climb inside it.
Raising it helps a lot. I set it and my feeder on blocks of wood that keep them elevated above the pine shavings. As they get bigger I raise them higher so they don't knock shavings in the feeder or waterer.
