So I have a diy bucket feeder made out of a trash can and some pvc elbows. Problem is, moisture seems to be getting in it. We haven't had any rain, but have had some heavy dew lately. What types of feeders have y'all found to be the best for weatherproofing? Picture of one of my newest fluffballs just because 😁

Buy this!!! I LOVE it and once you get it, you will never go back! It is 100% waterproof, and weather proof. Tip and spill proof, to keep chickens from wasting feed and dropping it on the ground. It is rodent proof, and holds a bunch of feed, so yo udon have to refill so often! https://www.grandpasfeeders.com Be ware though, it is shipping form this website from New Zealand, or Australia, so if you live in Washington like me, then it will take up to 1+ months to come! Ours took a bit longer then 1 month, and it si kinda pricey, but soooo worth it! The best feeder ever!

I have the same issue. I've never been able to use gravity feeders like the nice long PVC pipes. I live in a very humid area. I was just feeding daily out of a homemade trough feeder but I found this bird feeder a few months ago (Tractor supply or Walmart has it) and I fill it 3/4 way full with pellet feed and so far it's been good to go. I have it hanging under a covered run. I refill with fresh food about every other day or two. I have to keep my feed inside because in the shed or garage it's too humid and mold becomes a issue.

I didn't even get any water in mine from the tail of the hurricane we got hit with yesterday. Got any pics of yours? Sounds like the neck on the outside of the bucket might not be long enough.

I have one with 2 3 inch street elbows for my hens and 1 with a 4 inch street elbow for my rooster. Just waded out there in the mud and checked them both and bone dry.

That might be my issue then, the necks don't stick out very much at all. Thank you!

All mine are made with street elbows. I cut off the female end where it necks down, poke the male in the hole in the bucket, and shove the female on the male. I also trimmed the holes in the bucket where they are tight on the male end of the elbow. I don't have any glue or sealant anywhere on either of them.

This is the exact post with the elbow type I used:
