Buttercup is our BEST behaved bird

Your Napping Polish is SOO adorable LOL
are all like that? i was at the fair last year and there was about 3 of em that just didnt want me to clean their cages LOL they never saw me coming but as soon as that dust pan hit their cage they were all over! it was funny though, its like that wake up like "WHOA!! WHATS THAT!!"
def. wish i had more room for some of them too, my sis had two, but one died and the other is to sad to do anything.

LOL yes! They were bred to be pets 400-something years ago, and not much has changed

They can get spooked if there's a sudden movement or loud noise near them, and they aren't expecting it - mine squawks, puts her head down, and RUNS in a line towards my voice, headbutting anything in the way (Mommy is her safe zone lol but getting to me is a whole 'nother thing

) I usually call to her as I'm walking near, and she's just fine.

The poor things can't see very much, I think that also contributes to their docile nature (like blinders on a horse). They had dozens of them at the farm, and except for the roo, every one of them was quiet and calm! Anyone can pick up Buttercup, she never fidgets or protests. They aren't heavy layers (I hear about 4-5 a week, Buttercup isn't laying yet so I don't know) but I would still like to get her a black and gold laced Polish friend from the same farm...she doesn't hang out with my Leghorns.

Also, she NEVER leaves my yard, even though we have no fence, and she's never more than 40 or 50 feet from the coop. She's like having a kitten!

Lol Wow "Rose" youve def. convinced me that im gonna have to try one lol
Do you think it will stick with a flock of silkies? i mean they are calm and hooded too.

I think so, I'm hoping to get a Silkie in the spring and see what happens (chickens are pretty hard to find around here...
hmm.png
) My guess is that they would hang out with any calm, quiet bird, that's the way they were at the farm where I got her

Psssh You guys don't have anything as cool and funky as MY cockerel.

I'd vote all the way for Frizzled tolbunt Polish.

. . . . Course, they're rare, but I am breeding my frizzled guy for more frizzling in our flock.
