Also wondering- are Guinea fowl a bird that broodieness hasn't been bred out of?

Yes. For a week my hen went broody and I needed to chase her off.

If you want a good and intimidating alarm, guineas are the way to go. I don't have Geese but I love my guineas. Just want to share the experience of them with others.

Precisely.

My geese were freaked out by my chickens when they were little goslings. Now they run the show. If the chickens are near the food the geese will warn them to back off if they are close by. My gander has nipped a few chicken feathers here and there, but otherwise they all pretty much hang out in the same general areas. My gander does a good a job of keeping an eye out and one of my geese is good at ringing the alarm.

How do you know there's a problem if they're always freaking out?

You get up and check or have a camera. My dog is like this so I'm used to running back and forth.
