Best Guesses on Radius of Chicken Smell and Flies?

Honestly if all matters how well you clean how often you clean and what you use to clean.

I use the deep litter method. And Stall Dry, I empty the whole coop out about 2 times a year.

I can't smell my chickens unless I am IN the coop. If i'm next to the run I can't smell them at all. I can smell the hay that is in the nesting box.

I've been places where they don't clean the coop often and I could smell it about 10 feet away from the coop. But as long as you keep it clean you shouldn't have any isue

Diatomaceous earth great for mites lice and other creepy crawlies! I just got mine-cleaned my coop and incorporated it in their food and bedding! FOOD GRADE though-nothing else-people get confused with teh kind used for pools..

How do you apply your D.E.? We have sprinkled it in our run (which has a bermuda grass floor) and mixed it with water and sprayed it (I heard that was another effective way to apply it,) with no luck at all. The grass is white with hundreds of flies swarming. The chickens don't like to come out of their coops because there are so many flies. Stall dry has limited the fly population in the coop - but no luck in the run. Any help to get rid of the flies would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
