Best hatchery to order chicks from

I've placed an order with My Pet Chicken because of the sex choices and the small amount you can order. Anyone have any experiences with them? My order is not due to arrive until the week of April 11th so I am hoping weather will not be an issue. I would imagine that for every place a person can order chickens, there is someone out there that has had a bad experience so I guess we all take our chances!

The best prices seem to be from Meyer. I had great luck with 150 from them

I order in large quantities from Central Hatchery there minimum in 50 per order but they have great prices like $0.75 to $1.10 a chick for sexed pullets I have a order for 200 chicks (100 broilers and 100 RSL) and it was only $226 I get 100 of each breed and then sell about 1/2 when they get here. They carry RIR, red and black sex links, broilers, and more. I will get them hopefully when all this snow clears. We got roughly 21+ inches of snow here with -5 temps and 4 days ago it was 75 degrees and sunny! Gotta love Oklahoma!

I also like that there is no minimum order if you don't want to buy 25 chicks you don't have to. Plus if it is cold they put extra male chicks in to keep them warm. Nothing like free Roos

I've had only good experiences with McMurray, and have ordered off and on from them for almost 30 years. I have never lost a chick, have never had a deformed or sickly chick from them, and with the last order of over 40 pullets, we got 100% pullets (except for the one free exotic, which was, of course, a male). They have always been very nice to deal with, very accomodating (last year, my neighbor and I ordered together, and between the two of us, changed our order 4 or 5 times, and they were never anything but helpful and polite). And, seriously, think about what those little guys have to go thru...I always order for a late spring delivery (May) - you take a big risk when you order in the winter, or in the hot part of summer. And call the hatchery at about the time the chicks are supposed to ship - sometimes they may ship a day early - and then call or go into your post office and let them know you will pick them up, anytime of night or day, when they arrive. There are people there all the time, and they have been great about calling when the chicks arrive.
