So right now I have three BR's and they lay about an egg a day. I was wondering though waht is the BEST breed for the MOST eggs. We want to start growing our flock so we can sell eggs at the farmers market and I want some hens that are really going to give me some good amounts of eggs! THanks!~

I don't think your gonna get any better then an egg a day but I agree leghorns and production hybrids are the best layers

My Leghorns and Minorca's lay super...all are 6 egg a week layers but but 2 of my Minorca's are religious and take Sunday's off

I'm not kidding on that one. They also lay in spite of real hot humid weather.
If you want brown eggs the sex link/production crosses can't be beat.

I'll let you know on Christmas and Easter

At first didn't think much about it until it has become a real pattern for them. Now,it's just become funny.
I also have a broody leghorn that was caught in the Roo pasture yesterday talking sweet nothings to them..her 8 chicks have told her to get lost so she's looking again. I don't think she's ever laid an egg she just raises them for others. There is an exception to every rule.
Best bet for the best layers is a variety of the better layers. Our laying pasture is very colorful with a wide variety of breeds.
