Which Brinsea do you have?

I second this. I've had great luck with mine (Brinsea Octagon 20) and pump. Just set it and forget it!

The only real complaint I had was that, being in a dry climate, I needed the humidity pump to easily get the humidity right for lockdown and hatch. For my first hatch, I didn't have it and simply filling the two wells did not do the trick. I had to lay in wet paper towels and sponges, and then re-dampen the sponges a few times a day using the ventilation hole to stay at the recommended minimum. I had a very good hatch, but the humidity was a pain. The humidity pump makes it a breeze, but I'm tad irked that a second pricey piece of equipment was necessary.

Great to hear you have had good results too. As I’m in England were not too dry here so I can get away with just using the pump. Only time I’ve ever filled the Wells is when I’ve done goose eggs. Those thick shells concerned me and as they are waterfowl I wanted it as humid as possible in there!

Such a pain you had to buy the pump separate. I got mine together with the incubator as a package deal plus the distributor had an offer so it was a bit cheaper than buying separate.

Hi I’ve had two of these incubators I found the egg Turner was untrustworthy and small, temp held well but humidity was off. I wld recommend...if I could have tested other one but was cracked. The newest I’ve tried and tested 6 NURTURE RIGHT 360 and they are lay down with GREAT HUMIDITY CONTROL and digital read out and watering on outside so no opening and closing incubator! The temp and humidity spot on JUST BE DELICATE WITH TURNER VERY FICCLE. Hope helps. Does ANYONE KNOW if I can move my 4 day incubated eggs to an upright incubator due to problems? Also can I candle one egg at 4-5 days?
Love to hear back I’m new and just learning how to navigate and communicate....

That shouldn’t be a problem moving them to an upright incubator. I’ve done it when I’ve had different eggs set in different incubator’s with no ill effects.

You sure can candle at day 4-5 days but if you don’t see too much re check at day 7 when more development should be seen.

Thank you. That is a nice set up. I found one for sale but most are the ones that sit on the table

Home made. First one cost about $20.oo Styrofoam with fan, bimetal thermostat, (2) x 40W bulbs for heat source. Second one cost a bit more b/c we bought a picnic cooler. Same set up except for digital thermostat. I'm still tweaking the fan/ventilation on that one. But I've had excellent hatches in both.

Thank you so much. It seems hard to find someone to talk to and now I’m a prisoner due to what of said about that incubator. I wanted sickies and Bantoms badly and I fear I’m killing the 6 I’ve confirmed with live embryos. I honestly feel as though I’m losing it! Lol my life being controlled by chicken in which I only began because I was shipped an incubator by mistake! How about yourself?
