Best kind of minimal waste feeder? Homemade...trough...or rounded?

I took a sheetrock plaster trough from Lowes and nailed it to a board so they couldn't scratch the food out or tip it over. Big reduction in feed bill.

I have an old trough style feeder wrapped in welded wire fencing to prevent scratching and flicking. It is set up out of the deep litter on concrete blocks. After trying PVC pipe feeders and bucket feeders, this is the only kind I have found that has no waste whatsoever. Easy to fill and didn't cost me a dime, as it was already here in this old coop when I arrived.

Honestly I've had the best luck with the plain old red and white plastic hanging feeders from TSC. I balk at the price tag, $15 for a cheap piece of plastic, but after trying one I broke down and bought two more. I had homemade ones on a similar design before that, but I think the little forks/prongs that stick out into the feed area help reduce waste.
I hang them up to reduce waste of course, and if there's feed on the ground (which is rare) I simply don't refill the feeder until it's gone.
