Best layer ever! What is breed is she?

Some of my BSL's have lots of color like the one pictured and some are alot less, so it may be hard to say for sure.

She looks VERY similar to my Light Brahma x Black Australorp cross. As you can see...she shows the birchen gene:

Here's the front view of my female (she's the one in front of the black Minorca):

And here's a (kind of)side-view of her in the background. (Hint: She's the only one with gold in the entire pen):

Thanks!...everybody!

Peewee, she does have very similar coloring to yours.

Just from researching, I think the regular black sex links/black stars are usually from a RIR or production red male crossed with a barred rock female. BUT one pic I saw of a pullet that looked more like mine was also a BSL, but from a RIR female crossed with a barred rock male, the opposite cross, which isn't as common I don't think. That might account for the difference in color, the stronger red.

Oh well, I finally found out exactly where she came from, and the guy had sold all his stock about a year ago.

I'll just order a few BSL. Everyone is so happy with theirs, so they must be just as good at egg laying as this girl, and I'm sure I'll be happy with them.

What a beautiful girl. I have BSL that are colored just like her. In fact some of them have more brown. Great egg layers and good personality.
