my grandparents want some great egg laying chickens but do not like white leghorns so what are some good egg layers, and must be exzotic.

I doubt if you will find any exotic chickens that are also good egg layers. There might be some out there, but I've searched breeds and haven't seen any yet. I think you will have to decide if you want a good egg layer or and exotic chicken

Define exotic.

My brahmas are great egg layers, laying all winter. Medium sized to large eggs. I'm soon to get some turkens, considered to be good to excellent layers of large eggs.

My ameraucana does pretty well. She's not exotic, but very flashy (beard, pretty feathers, muffs, etc). Although she may be a special case, I looked up Ameraucanas on the web and it said they only lay four days a week.

Ask not why the chicken crossed the road, but why the road got in the way of the chicken.

The best layer I've ever seen is an Easter Egger who laid a large, light olive colored egg 89 days out of 90 over the Summer. She continues to lay about 5 eggs a week.

To some, and Easter Egger may well be an "exotic" chicken. She is in a flock with some of the best Cuckoo Marans on earth and some BC Marans, but most people like her the most because she's awesome.

Also in that flock is a "plain old" White Leghorn who lays 9 days out of 10 consistently. She was hatched from a grocery store egg, so some folks find her "exotic" after all.

I agree completely with napa valley chickens. Now I see how stupid I was mentioning my Ameraucana. I failed to notice that the original poster's name was ameraucanacrazy. Duh, me.
