Best laying Bantams?

Sebrights! I had 3 hens last summer and always had at least 2 eggs per day from them. The eggs wt. 1.4 OZ each. A large egg wt is 2.0 OZ for comparison. So I'd say they rate "small". I still don't see how a hen as little as they are don't turn themselves inside out laying them that size! My sebrights were not much larger than a city pigeons.

So true! And a company will change the formulation without any notice, too. Saw that on their Homegrown Chick Starter, that used to have animal protein till recently.

Dark Cornish Bantam....they lay just about every day, don't go broody as often as some others and the egg is about the size of a standard hens.

My silkies lay the biggest egg out of D'Uccles, Cochins and Ameracaunas. But they are broody any time of the yr so I don't get a lot. The Ameracaunas lay the best, almost an egg a day but they are the smallest eggs so far. They are young though and just started laying. My cochins don't lay much at all anymore some not at all. I only get a few eggs a yr out of the three of them. They are 7+ yrs old now. The D'Uccles lay in the spring summer, and a few during the winter still and they are 7+ too. The silkies are all under 5 and they lay okay, unless they are broody.
I would like to know if anyone has any brahmas and how they lay as young hens and how they do as they get older. Or any other bantam breed that lays well into it's older yrs.

All my birds are bantams and would like to add some more dependable egg layers to the group.

Is there a glossary of abbreviations anywhere on the list so us poor schmucks can actually know what breeds you are talking about?

have 2 white rock 1 barred rock 2 phoenix all bantams i get about 9 eggs a week on average. love the small birds good enough layers for personal (house hold) use my barred rocks lay small to med eggs (compared to avg store bought) and my phoenix give pretty small eggs wouldnt call "peewee" but definitely small eggs but all seem to be laying about 1-2 a week
