Best meat chicken???

What are you looking for? Quick growing? Good feed conversion? Big meaty easy to pluck birds... Cornish Cross. Downside... Kind of dirty smelly and they often have issues with legs and having strokes or heart attacks. Try a few different varieties.... If you do a comparison the Cornish X will amaze you at their growth rate.

I prefer the big old breeds because they're reliable. They are smart, tender, tasteful, and in reslity don't take that long to grow. It seems to me a matter of impatience was the only factor that lead to the CX gaining popularity. There's no way else it could be so famous, with that kind of quality.

CX - Tough, Flavourless, Plentiful, So degraded that it needs to be intensively raised, difficult to raise, weak, otherwise pointless and seemingly random deaths.
Freedom Ranger Tribe (and rainbows, gold nuggets, etc.) - Tough-ish, Flavourful, still Plentiful, intellegent, easy and simple to raise, strong, few unnatural casualties (until slaughtering day)
Heritage Breeds - Tough-ish, Very Flavourful, still Plentiful, also intellegent, easy, simple, and carefree to raise, strong, also few unnatural and unexpected deaths..
