Best netting type material ?

I am making a fenced area for my chickens to free range. I would like to use some type of netting material over the top. Can anyone make a suggestion as to which type to get? I have been looking on the internet and am now overwhelmed! Thanks for any suggestions

Location of the coopr/run (trees ect) weather you gt regularly and budget will all dictate what type of netting you get. There are great knotted aviary nets available, but if you are covering a large space it is costly. There is deer netting at HD/Lowes but is plastic, thin and can break.

I bought mine at http://3tproducts.com. For affordability I went with the 2" netting. On the plus side, no hawks or owls have gotten into my chicken yard. On two occassions I spotted a small hawk sitting on the top rail of the fence the netting is attached to, but that was as far as he got. On the negative side, sparrows easily get into the yard, but they would anyway because my fencing is standard chain link. I have had to escort a dove out twice. Don't know how it got in, but the bird was agreeable and walked out when I opened the gate!

The chicken yard is about 40'x90' so I got the 50'x100' size netting. It is held up by 5 metal "arches" that are about 10' high, as well as the roof of the coop near one corner. My fence is 5' high and I can get quite close to it before having to duck my head. Of course, I do have to duck when entering or leaving through the gate. It was expensive, but so far I am pleased with it. I am in a windy area with strong sun beating on it, but no snow load. It has been up about six to eight months.

I put some of the plastic bird netting up. I need to get more. This will have to do for me until I get a real roofed area like I wanted.

I bought 50' x 50' aviary netting, one inch squares I think, from amazon this past winter for 39.00. I havent put it up yet, but the material looks durable and the price was right. It might be a good place to look.

there prices on netting vary from $90 for a 12 by 100 net
to $390 for 50 by 150

Farmtek sells a deer fencing/netting that I love! I use it around the garden to keep the deer out and use it inside my tractor/coop to partition off sections when introducing youngsters/new birds. I also have some installed over the chicken wire to keep the wild birds out, they sneak into the nest boxes and eat the eggs (no, it is not the chickens!). I think it would work great to cover a run
