I am looking for the best online shopping site (in the US) that sells dried marigold petals for a good price and good quality. I am wanting to feed them to my hens for darker yolk color, so I need whatever variety would accomplish that. Any suggestions?

... and plant marigolds in your garden. The more you deadhead them, the more flowers you get ... fed directly to your girls!

would this type achieve darker yolks?

You want marigold specifically?

I've read that red peppers will do it (bell peppers or chili peppers, fresh or dried, and yes that includes dried/powdered into chili powder).

I've also read that alfalfa will do it, and alfalfa hay is pretty easy to buy in small or large packages because of how many other animals eat it.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with marigolds, just mentioning a few other options in case they might be easier to get.

I have tried red peppers but it didn't really work for me... maybe I didn't get the ratio right? Do you know what the food/yolk darkener ratio would be for all those options? Thanks for the reply!

Yes! The home stores sell them in bulk packs, they grow like weeds, and the girls love a weekly sacrifice. Especially if you offer it to them planted!
Bonus: If you plant them in the same place every year for a couple of years and let some seed-heads develop, marigolds usually self-seed. No more buying flats!
