I recently just lost a chicken to a fox in my fenced in run. I have since raised my fencing to 6' and placed the bottom of the fencing in a 3' asphalt path all around the perimeter to keep any digging predators out. I want to put netting over top of the run (fairly large run) but don't know what is the best kind to keep any climbing foxes and hawks out. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Well, if you want netting, deer netting works well, and should keep foxes away, and it will definitely keep a hawk out. They don't even try to swoop down if they see anything over the top. Unless you are going to use real wire over the whole thing, i would definitely still lock them up at night, just to be safe.

I lost 2 chickens on saturady to a fox, and yesterday i went out to the temporary chicken coop (which has a netting fence and found the fox dead, wrapped in the fence...he strangled himself. Guess we won't have to worry about him anymore.
