Best place to get coop windows? (**updated w/ PICS)

The cheapest "shed windows" I found and bought for my coop were at Ready Shed. I bought 4 windows from them and was please with the price and the window. They are not suitable for a house, but for a shed or coop, they are just fine. If 21" is the max you can use, they have 14 x 21 standard windows for $27.90. The bottom half slides up and down. It has a screen and spring locks on both sides that allow 3 adjustable heights on the window. They are flush mount style with 1" nailing flange, all aluminum with safety glass and cottage style vinyl grids. They also sell the shutters and window boxes you mentioned you were looking for.

I then put a wood frame around them and hardware cloth over the frame. They really added a nice look to our coop.

Here they are without the hardware cloth. I bought 18" x 27" for our coop.

Have any friends that work construction? Ask them to save windows from remodelings that would otherwise be tossed. Or craigslist, Habitat for Humanity store, even check out the county dump "too good to throw away" section.

I wanted the natural light as much as the ventilation for my coop. We collected windows and even skylights for a year and incorporated them into the build. The more free stuff we used, the less we had to purchase. The windows can all be opened and all have hardware cloth to keep predators out.

We're in the middle of a mid-90's stretch of temperature and - with a fan in one of the back windows pulling in cooler air from the shaded side of the building - the coop has remained cooler than the outside temps.

I actually got all four windows of my coop on E-Bay. All of them made it to me without any broken panes. The top two were old transom windows from some old house. The two side windows were just two wood wood framed windows from who knows where. As you can see in the pic, the upper windows are hinged to swing open from the top. There are hardware cloth screens behind them, latched from inside. The two side windows just slide open and shut in tracks. The hardwarecloth screens are on the outside of them.

Thanks for all the suggestions and responses. I got impatient and decided to just wing it and make my own....Here are some pics of my efforts:

First I made templates to check for proportion...

Next I cut out the windows, you can see my helpers here....

Next I trimmed out the openings with 1x pine, this will be painted white...

Use the cut outs to fashion working shutters...they turned out very nice I think...they will look even nicer once painted white (like the coop interior) matching the trim.

Here is what the shutters looks like closed...open during summer and closed during the winter.

Now I just need to finish the other window....Please ignore the rusty tin roof, I think I must have installed it upside down because its brand new and already rusting

. May have to spray with polyurethane or something. Except fo the tin roof and hardware, the entire coop is made from pallet wood and reclaimed wood.

Forgot to mention that the windows will be covered on the inside with hardware cloth, and will probably turn them into "French" windows by adding faux pane dividers (4 pane).

If you can see the window in the back of my modified dog house coop....I got it from craig's list ($5.00) It's hinged to open on the top for air circulation in the summer, and latches up for cold weather.

I personally love the look of the window with the shutters. You could always get two pieces of glass cut to fit and install them for the winter so that they'd have the light. Really cute coop!

finished out the other window and shutters today, can't wait to get them painted....gonna look awesome.

I'm okay with not using glass or plexi, just hardware cloth. When the shutters are closed during winter I may consider electricity or battery for additional lighting. I have enough ventilation w/out the windows.
