Best plucking method for craft feathers?

When I pluck chickens, I tend to damage the feathers so they lose their good looks. Can anyone who uses their feathers for crafts advise me about the plucking methods they use? I have to deal with a very pretty rooster today.

Cool, but I don't think it's going to be doing very much natural moulting just after I persuade it not to crow before dawn in the suburbs in the time-honoured way!

skin it so you have time to remove those feathers, maybe you can swirl the skin part in the hot water so those feathers come out easy
