Best protein for hens

I mix oyster shell in with the feed, I would like to know what everyone else uses or suggests... I don't believe my hens could be getting enough due to the fact I've experience some feather picking.

You should never mix the oyster shell in with the feed...offer it in a separate dish on the side.

Oyster shell is not protein.

Do you also feed them a complete feed?

How old are they and what size is your coop?
How many?

I have started to grow some higher protein plants to give them as a treat with their pellets. The pellets I feed are 16% protein. Also the pellets/crumble probably have calcium in them so I give mine the oyster shell in a separate container.

Dry high protein cat food ......My Birds look fantastic and never pick....I toss out a couple of handfuls twice a week...
