I figured the same as roosting...about one foot for each chicken

Really?? 12'? That sounds like a lot to me. Especially since those round feeders that hold 30 or 40 lbs probably have about a 3' circumference at most and they seem to be for at least a dozen chickens. I don't have room for 12' of any kind of feeder so does anyone else have an idea?

This is the feeder I am going with since I asked about feeders the other day and this was shown to me. So simple I can't believe it.

WOW! This is great! My husband and I are still working on our coop, and were wondering what we were going to use for the feeder. I just found it!

Thanks!!!

I like that. I made a simple double sided feeder out of gutters looks almost like a grooming box you have for horses that I have to fill once a day, I refuse to have food sitting outside in the run for critters overnight, but I'm sure I will be thinking of this come winter when I have to feed them inside

@gale65
I don't think you would need a 12' feeder, I would say 3' would be fine, as they eat more food will fall out- as long as they all have room to stand and eat you should be fine. I have five girls and just a little round 6lb feeder, I fill it once a week or so, and they never all eat from it at once (they free range) I don't think my feeder is even 1' wide!

Also I just wanted to say this feeder looks great! I might have to make one. Thanks for posting

I used a 6ft piece for 16 chickens, so 5 ft would be plenty, I've seen 10 chickens at the same time eating out of our 6 ft section.

Wow, this is GREAT! I'm going to try to round up parts and make this, this weekend. LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing -
