We decided to go with painteds but the parents are very friendly and run to the owner for food etc i think the japanese were just a bit big though if we expand we'll probably go with those next time!
Not keen on the wire-bottom cages, just personal opinion, doesn't look too nice for their feet? We've got a solid bottomed cage and we'll have a look for appropriate bedding, is something like aspen ok? Saw it recommended somewhere online but dont know what other options there are (not keen on sawdust). Will see how we get on with it, i think it'll be a bit of trial & error to see what works for us, especially as they'll be inside! Thanks again
