What are the best pet quails? I know I want button quail but they aren't the friendliest quail I've heard, so I'd like to get buttons and another type. Buttons mainly for watching and the type for fun. I'd like a quail that will lay with me and be my friend and such like my ducks are.

Does anyone have like a list with quail breeds and info on each?

I have heard cortunix are good for pets and they are a little bit friendlier. I got my cortunix hatching eggs for that reason [IMG]

Coturnix, hands down. I love mine, and of the bobwhites, buttons and coturnix, they are by FAR the tamest.

Just do a google search on Coturnix, or Japanese quail... you'll come up with a bunch of stuff.

I just hatched out some Cortunix 7 weeks ago and they are scared of us at all. They are very tame. I have heard that bobwhites are not tame at all.

Coturnix,.. We have one named Cricket and he is a family pet,.. He has a table with a towel on it that we let him walk around on when we take him out of the cage.

He is a male however and does crow,.. they are kinda loud but I have heard parrots and cockatiels make more noise.

Ok thanks. I want cortunix then.

I don't about them being noisey, I have lots of birds (ducks, cockatiels, lovebirds, and budgies) and I love hearing them talk, even if they're just screaming. [IMG]

About how big do they get?

The jumbo coturnix get as big as a fat pigeon,.. the regulars get just a little smaller.
