Best rooster breed with small children

Although I wonder if a huge Bramah rooster would damage my leghorn hens because of the size difference
But in contrast, a bantam Cochin (which is larger than other bantams,) is big enuf to mate w leghorns. For size comparison, here's my bantam Cochin rooster meeting a brown leghorn hen:

As far as bantams breeding large fowl hens I have had oegb breed large fowl hens but it's not exactly science and doesn't always work.

I grew up around many roosters and my kids suffered the same. The most important concern will not be breed of rooster, rather your vigilance as a parent. Direct supervision has been the rule here even with the most child friendly roosters. A big part of your job will be training the child proper behaviors around chickens in general.

And culling any roosters that show human aggression to adults is definitely a good place to start.

He would. Been there, done that.

My LF Cochin does fine with my one leghorn. However she REALLY likes him.

I've had no issues with any Cochins being human aggressive unless handled, then a few of them bit. I culled all of them that showed any human aggression.

My two very very favorite roosters of all time have been Welsummer and Swedish Flower Hen. Both are very sweet, docile and friendly. Neither are super fond being picked up but tolerate it, both love getting pets and both will eat out of my hand. They are both fiercely protective of their ladies but very gentle and loving towards them and both of them have adopted all the baby chicks and helped teach them along with the mamas starting at a couple of days old.

English orpingtons as mentioned before. They really are like puppies. I havent had an aggressive orp yet.

I have had an aggressive silkie roo and orpington/cochin cross. They would chase one of my boys all over the pasture, terrifying him until he became afraid of chickens all together. They volunteered for freezer camp. Normally silkies are very gentle, but this one must have been dropped on his head or something!

Ever since that, I've gone to straight orps.
