In order to ensure minimal interaction with the neighbor I will be clipping my ducks' wings this weekend. One bird ventured over the fence into the grumpy neighbor's yard yesterday evening and the sky is falling, the world is ending, and the neighbor is going to need therapy it was so traumatic.

I've researched clipping and know to cut the long flight feathers but I couldn't find any information regarding which scissors to use. Does it even matter? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Boy, your neighbor sure sounds like a real piece of work! What was even the problem? Why was one duck such a horrible thing> If I saw a duck in my yard, that'd improve my day tremendously!

As for the scissors, nope, it doesn't matter one bit. :) I use my plain ol' regular, no-nonsense craft scissors. Just be sure not to cut the blood feathers and you're good!

Fear usually comes from lack of knowledge, and I find with ducks, being bitten by a goose usually bleeds over into this fear. As someone who is terrified of Canadian gees I can sympathize a bit. I do like duckies tho.

Then again my dog got bit by a blue hereon and is TERRIFIED of all birds which now includes my 3 day old ducklings

As far as the scissors....any will do. Make sure they are SHARP, as sharp as you can get them. And make sure you don't hit any blood feathers. Sharp sissors make jobs easier.

You have no idea. This neighbor is cranky. I just recently started speaking to him again after avoiding him for nearly a year after he threatened to shoot my farrier over a misunderstanding the two of them had over an appointment time. I would love to build a solid 8 foot block wall all the way down our shared property line...if only I had a spare $40,000 sitting around!
