Good evening. Starting to think about next years turkeys and was wondering if anyone here has some good recommendations of where or where NOT to get my poults in the spring. I am leaning towards a classic narraganasset but am open to others that are true breeding as I intend to keep these around and don't want to have a motley crew of turkeys running around. I am located in central Oregon, if that makes any difference to the answer

I've raised Narragansett. I love them - great temperament. One would ride on the ATV with me to fix fence. I believe these came from Cackle. I'm ordering a few more of these traditional Narragansett from Cackle this year. I can pick them up so that is a huge bonus.

This year I'm also ordering from Porter's for the first time. They seem to be THE go to place for quality heritage turkey. I didn't see traditional color Narragansett on their list. I'm ordering recessive blue Narragansett and Chocolate.

If you go to the turkey forum here you will see the thread I just started about temperament of Porter's turkey. Everybody raved about all aspects of his turkeys. Temperament, growth rate, health etc.
