Best substrate

Hi all,
Wanted to see what the best substrate or what you use for your ducks?? I have been using straw but wanted to see about something that absorbs a little better!!

Sand or small pebble can work if you have good drainage. Are you asking about inside or out?

If your pen is covered pine shavings are the best.

I usually just added new shavings about once a week, and then did a full clean about once a month or so.

There is no "best substrate". There is a list of suitable substrates for waterfowl, but the "best one" will vary with each person's setup, the number of birds they have, their climate, the size of the pen, etc.

That is why oftentimes you'll hear conflicting results when people respond to the question. My suggestion. Try different bedding, and see what works best for you.
