Best time to feed goose?

Should I be feeding my gander in the morning or in the evening? He has a nice big fenced area with straw for a bed, water and food, and a small pond. I've been putting his food down when I put him in for the night, but much of it is left in the morning. He doesn't go back in during the day (in fact, lately he's been trying really hard to avoid being put back in at bedtime) so he's not snacking. I'd like to encourage him to spend time in his "house" but not sure how.

Is there any treats that hè loves? I placed watermelon in their yard the first couple of nights they slept there. I also have food available for them in their shed that I fill every night. Try spending time in the yard/run/shed with him. I sit in the yard and shed on my off days throughout the day. They love to lay next to me and take a nap. They also have a set time for going to bed , when the sun sets. I call out “bed time” and they start running for their yard. Sometimes one will be a pill but I just walk behind her. Good luck.

About the only treat he likes is lettuce. I might try luring him to bed with that. He hangs out in a corner right beside the house when we're not outside - I think that's where we should have built his yard! I wish mine would run for his yard...if I call "bedtime" he takes off in the opposite direction, just like a kid!

He might like a handful of whole corn. My gander would do a song and dance for corn. Just make sure your gander always has drinking water. they also herd well if you walk slowly behind and guide with your arms.

I feed mine in the morning. During the day they graze all day to get their important nutrients and before they go to bed I feed them again.

During winter they need extra food since there isn't much around during the day to graze on and they will stay warm with extra feed too.

Summer they get a lot less since grass is plentiful and it's important for their diet.

Heavier goose breeds need a bit more feed than the lighter breeds.
