Best Treatment for Vent Gleet and Sour Crop

I'm hoping to secure more Fluconazole tomorrow. Either way, I'm trying to find some fishzole to keep on hand as well.

Is it supposed to be firm, flabby or in between?
You realize that Fish Zole is Metronidazole and not Fluconazole (Fish Flucon) correct?

The abdomen on a full sized hen should feel soft and pliable, yet a little firm. She should not feel fatty.

Is she walking around and fairly active?
I leave mine with the flock unless they are being picked at and just take them out for any type of treatment they may need.

I didn't realize that so thank you! I have plenty metronidazole and certainly don't need more. That would have been disappointing to find out at the last minute. Thank you!

So between Darla's legs, it feels really full and firm. It's not the feeling of being full of fluid but just really full and firm. Does this sound concerning? She's my only Buff Orpington so I don't have another one to compare to but I compared her to my Marans Hen that is 3 months younger (the one with chronic shell issues)

It's almost like her abdomen sticks out a bit on the sides but she is so thin and that makes it more difficult to tell. It is worrying me though. I keep going back and forth about it possibly being an impaction from raisins. I don't know and it's a tough spot to be in. Thinking about this, I really appreciate you taking the time to offer up your thoughts. I have so much respect and gratitude for you

So I just felt the abdomen of Bonnie, my truly FAT mixed breed pullet that's the largest bird here, including the boys in my comparison. Now, I'm not so sure that Darla's abdomen is worrisome. I've put out a call for some help so hopefully I can get someone that's not been freaking out over Darla and every move she makes to come over and give their opinion on how her abdomen feels. I know that sounds silly but I am driving myself crazy. Her little noise that she makes breathing on occasion has disappeared. Not sure if that's due to her weight loss as I wouldn't consider her to be overweight before this, stress and illness changing her breathing or the meds. Another new development, I feel like an idiot but the chemical odor from her stool is from the Poultry Spray I used. I noticed lice in my duck house which is on the other side of the property but I mingle between the flocks. I didn't want anything else weighing her immune system down so I sprayed her as a precaution which I don't normally do.

Side note: I'm not sure why Bonnie is such a huge girl. I made a post about her size months back. Everyone agreed that she's a BIG girl and thought she'd lose the extra pounds whenever she started laying but unfortunately she hasn't. She doesn't get treats because I am so worried about her size and the amount of fat on her but she just doesn't lose weight. I know that being overweight makes them more likely to suffer from numerous problems, many resulting in death, but I don't know what else to do. Maybe I should try her on a treadmill like Ceasar does with dogs (I am kidding, I promise ~ I needed that visual as it gave me a laugh so I thought I'd share). Bonnie isn't unwell though so I just threw this information in here because I know it's bad for her to be so overweight. I ramble way too much and I apologize for that

Sometimes we overthink things LOL

If Bonnie is active, eating/drinking, etc. then I wouldn't worry too much. With her being a mixed breed, you just don't know what genetics are at play.

For Darla, try to stay calm. I understand your frustration and worry, but that's not helping.

I apologize, I think I have become a bit lost in the thread - give me just a quick snapshot of her symptoms again and what treatment(s) you have given.
Doesn't sound like there's noticeable swelling/bloat in her abdomen.

You have Metronidazole or Miconazole? In your first post you list Miconazole. Just asking:D

Darla is my 22 month old Buff Orpington Hen. I noticed her not being as active as normal so I decided to check her crop 1st thing in the morning. It was not empty. It wasn't quite packed full and hard but nowhere near flat. It didn't feel full of water either. I could feel different sized pieces. I boiled her an egg and she ate that. I massaged and tried coconut oil with no change. Her crop continued to fill over the next days and she was quickly loosing weight. I didn't notice any odor to her mouth or bottom. She's had messy bottom feathers for about a month. I chalked it up to her being a Buff Orpington. Her vent doesn't look like the pictures of vent gleet that I've seen here but I decided that she had been suffering from vent gleet and that caused her crop problem. Her vent and surrounding area does not smell foul. Nothing is getting through her crop now. Her poop is mostly urates and sometimes a tiny bit of green. Her crop now feel like play dough.
Meds on board:
Valblazen
Fluconazole 50mg 1x day
Nystatin Cream on vent and occasionally she'll accidentally get a bite (not intentionally)

Meds on hand coming up in next post

* Miconazole Cream
* Nystatin Cream
* Nystatin Ointment
* Metronidazole
* Amoxicillin
* Enrofloxacin
* Metronidazole
* Have 1 dose of Fluconazole left (for Saturdays dose) and will get more Monday
* Sulfa
* Cipro

Did I mention that Darla started to molt and then it's just kind of stalled?
I'm unsure when she laid an egg last.

I would give her the coconut oil twice a day and give the Miconazole (vaginal yeast cream twice a day for 7 days. Massage the crop if there is no odor when you give the coconut oil.
I would also give her a 1 time dose of stool softener (stimulant free).
See if that gets things moving. She may have an impaction lower down. Plenty of water to drink. She can have a little wet soupy feed.

Crop issues can days to resolve, so continue giving the oil, etc. daily.

Thank you! How much coconut oil do you suggest? I have to force any solids on her now. She'll drink water. Do you think adding fresh garlic to her water will do anything?
