This will be my first incubator, and I want something that is pretty much hands off for me

I have been spoiled by a few very good broody hens, but I know there is going to come a time when my girls aren't broody, and I'll want some hatching eggs, and won't be able to get them because I don't have an incubator. In order to avoid this terrible, life threatening

, situation, I want to invest in an incubator

I want something that does pretty much everything for me. Simple enough... Right

I understand there are things I'm still going to have to do, but for the most part I'd like it to be hands off. Any advice on brands of incubators would be great as I have no idea what to get

I'd vote for the genisis 1588. It's about as plug it in and forget it as they come. I've got 3 of the 1588s plus the older version a 1590.

I give the same vote for small sized bators. If you need something bigger, I recommend a GQF Sportsman. I have both, and love both of them. The only thing you need to do is make sure they have water in them.

You can't go wrong with a GQF Sportsman, they do cost more but the first one we bought payed for itself in less than 6 months from selling chicks it hatched, The 2nd payed for itself in less time.

Both of ours were set up right out of the box and haven't been adjusted at all in 5 or 6 years now. They run from Dec/Jan until about this time of year non stop. That's about as user friendly as it gets.
