The company that makes rooster booster also makes a sprinkle over feed mix in called poultry booster, one jar per 50 lb of feed however I do one jar per 90 lb of feed so I underdose a little bit since their feed is complete anyways (indo a mix of kalmbach feeds) but it gives them a little boost through the winter since i get subzero here for atleast 2 months of the winter, I don't add it in the summer unless they're under stress for something. I like the mix in for the feed because I find mixing all the liquid vitamins in the waterers makes the waters get slimy and smell bad even with daily changing. I like their waterer staying fresh. I think the mix in is called poultry booster it's a white jar with a yellow label and it's by the same company that makes rooster booster and poultry cell which is a great supplement company!

I also make my own treat blocks to feed once a week at most and I'll mix fresh herbs and pumpkin seeds and nutritional yeast and things like that for where they would potentially have nutrient gaps. And in the summer I prefer to give them whole foods for their "extra" vitamins not the supplements so collard greens are really high and niacin so I grow those in my garden, thyme, oregano, etc. dark leafy greens are really good for them and I always have extra from my garden.

I feed them dirt from the run while they are in the brooder. I start this on Day 2 or 3 in the brooder and provide a small amount of dirt twice a week until they are out of the brooder and able to get their own dirt. This provides grit as well as get them started on any immunities they may need from stuff in your soil. If you have adult chickens in that run they also get a start on probiotics the adults have.

I'd consider predator protection a preventive measure.

Simple is best. I also provide quality feed, clean water, plenty of space and stressfree living conditions. This is far more effective than any supplement at preventing illness

It's not glamorous but I agree with frostRanger and Ridgerunner, basic good care, enough space, clean water, predator control those make a difference in the health of chickens. Not something added to the feed.

We do the same, except we put less than 1/4 dose of this into the feed. These are silkies who are prone to vitamin deficiencies, yet I'm a bit paranoid about overdosing them on something. They're on Kalmbach's Flock Maker as well.

Even at 1/4 dose, I don't feed it daily to chicks because I learned it gives them loose poops. They get it once a week and plain the rest of the time.

Yeah I do kalmbach as well and this exact same supplement! once mine are adults I'll probably do the same as you and do one jar per 200 lb of feed instead of one jar per 90 lb of feed in the winter. Unfortunately when it's -15 degrees Fahrenheit out with 2 feet of snow on the ground it's hard to just let them out and have space and let that be the only preventative

Same.
And protection from predators.
Their commercial feed is scientifically balanced and nutritionally complete, I don't believe in "supplementing" anything that is already perfect. However I do give my birds a little snack every afternoon, not because I think they need it, but because it brings them close to me for a daily visual check. They get a little scratch, some BOSS and some dried mealworms. The dogs also like the mealworms so it also gives the dogs and chickens a few minutes to hang out together and strengthen their bond.
