Best way to apply leg bands to peafowl

I have two groups of peafowl that I am moving to a new penned area. One group of three were hatched on May 5, 2018 and the other group of three on August 3, 2018. That makes three at 9 months old and three at 6 months old. I will need to apply zip tie leg bands before I merge the two groups. I have not done this before. Any suggestions on the best way to do this to minimize trauma to the birds...and to me? LOL No, seriously.

I always get help to apply leg bands on birds that age. One person to hold the bird and the other person to apply the band. Make sure to check the bands for tightness as your birds continue to grow and replace when needed.
