Thank you so much. I love my ducks and I have even gone as far as putting a concrete trench all around the pen’s perimeter. Call me crazy or not but I want to make sure nothing gets a free dinner at least not from me. LolI want to just commend you on the thought you have put in to security

Awesome. I think I want to get two geese but they are not available now.Mine are all chickens but feel the same I have been fortunate to have cockerels that take care of their ladies well and raises chicks for me
Exactly that’s what I was thinking since my post are 8 feet apart and the chicken wire is just 4 feet I bought j clips to attach the second piece of chicken wire and so on. So I will buy 2 x 4’s instead around the sides to keep the chicken wire in place. Is that right?I'm not sure I understand how the 1x2's will hold the wire or how you attach the wire. If you do use them I'd put them on the side so the wide dimension is vertical. It won't bend as much that way. It won't be very strong and not sure how you would staple to them. I'd be worried about splitting the 1x2. If you are going to put something up there to attach the chicken wire to I'd suggest 2x4's.
If it were me with that tension wire for support I'd use j-Clips or hog rings to attach the chicken wire to the hardware cloth. That chicken wire is in 48" widths. When you stretch that across the 30' you will probably get gaps. I'd use J-Clips or hog rings to tie those strips together. Make the top wire one solid piece by tying it together.

Then why use chicken wire, as it's not predator proof?Call me crazy or not but I want to make sure nothing gets a free dinner at least not from me.
