Best way to cull?

By the way, if she has been ill for 4 months and none of the other birds are ill, then whatever she has is not contagious.

A necropsy might be a waste of money, unless you are simply curious about what she is so ill from.

I find the best way to cull a chicken, and the most humane, is to put it in a feed bag (plastic) and start the car up put the bag on the exhaust. It doesn't take any more than two minutes. I have to use my daughters car as mine is LPG and doesn't produce enough carbon monoxide. You can bury the carcass as it is a non toxic as it works by de-oxiding the blood. The chook just goes to sleep.

I would not worry about finding out what is wrong. If none of the other chickens are sick, what ever is causing this is not going through your flock.

I am for the cone and slit jugular, you have done your best, get it over with.
