I have ordered jumbo quail hatching eggs and they just arrive yesterday. They originated in Ohio and were shipped to Seattle wa, a fairly long journey, so I’m concerned about hatch rate, since I’ve had bad luck with shipped chicken eggs.
I’m letting them rest but I’ve read they need to be pointy side down to help the air sack stabilize if it’s been damaged from shipping. My incubator’s turner is made for chicken eggs. I have hatched quail before, in this incubator, using the eggs turner and just tilting the incubator one or twice a day to assure all the eggs roll a little.
Now that I’ve read about having them pointyside down for three days inside the incubator without turning. Is there a simple way to make an egg holder for quail eggs that holds them pointy end down? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I ordered two dozen, 29 arrived.
