From where can I order the 3/4 inch galvanized hardware cloth for the best price? Some stores stock small rolls of it but most have only regular 1/2 inch or worse--just 1" hex wire that raccoons just grab through and munch parts they can pull through. I'm in SE PA.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

I compared prices at home depot and such... was cheaper on amazon for me.

I use it in the garden as well, to keep gophers out. I have gotten 1/2 and 1/4 in hardware cloth. The 1/4 inch though tighter holes is a smaller diameter wire. So I don't know which will be sturdier long term. :pop

I finally found some I like! It's called wire hex Flight Netting, 1/2" and 3/4". Yes, the hardware cloth works best for low to ground. I saw this flight net in action at Aullwood Audubon Farm on their awesome outdoor run! put this in your browser for directions and go there in person to see it in action: https://aullwood.audubon.org/
there is admission but it is a very good education center. Be prepared to walk on the trails. Next time I go I will post pictures of their run on here. Their run is concrete so clean-able by front-end-tractor-loader. I was told the snow load does not collapse it! Rhere is sturdy support every few feet up there.
